Lightwave 3d came from New Tek. It ran on the Amiga and now on almost any computer. Lightwave 10 is comming soon or is out now. I have LW 9.6 LW on the Amiga was fast for the day and had lots of power. The multi tasking on the Amiga also made the Toaster work. Without the Amiga no toast. New Tek is still around, making thing happen.

All toaster products were amazing but unless you're talking about the Flyer, comparing final cut and Avid etc. to it is like comparing a blender to a dish washer. The toaster was purely a video switcher with an amazing paint package and CG. The Amiga it was in was nothing more than the power supply and memory for the hardware. It was the Amiga's timing which matched that of NTSC video to give the perfect match. Of course that was all useless without a few expensive TBC's loaded into it.

You can still get a video toaster. Just not for the Amiga anymore. Newtek seemed embarrassed by the Amiga. While their hardware/software was incredible, Jenison admitted that it couldn't do it w/o the Amiga. Game machines and modern computers are still "discovering" things the Amiga was doing 20 years ago. (like the PS3 "move" controller... immediately reminded me of Mandala on the Amiga).

@wilwheaton Newtek was at least 10-15 years ahead of the competition. THis is another case where one just shakes his head and says, "What happened? These guys should be bigger than IBM/Apple combined?". I think the lesson learned is that excellent engineering never guanrantees sucess or money. There is something more to it....

I love this promo video. Newtek has always pushed the envelope of graphics hardware. Their presentations are always impressive going back to the Newtek Amiga demos. I used to have this tape but I lent it to my film instructor at Pasadena City College in '96 and never saw it again.

I was actually at the official rollout event back at NAB 93 in Vegas for this, I worked for an Amiga/Toaster dealer at the time and we traveled there to see what was new. I remember the crowd cheering with each new feature and actually, I have video of that event that I should post someday. It was the first time this promo was shown. I still have the Toaster sitting in my basement at the office...haven't fired it up in 12 years. @zfish9 Sorry, but no. By convention, you say 50 kelvin, not 50 degrees kelvin. The reason is that the CPGM wanted to distinguish it from the other "degree" measures like C and F because Kelvin is not relative to an arbitrary reference point, but is an actual measure of the heat of an object that can be accurately cut in half, doubled, etc. So yeah, it should be 4000 kelvin. It may just be the Celsius scale slid 273 degrees, but that's actually what makes the difference. awesome song!

Good review! I inadvertently bought this not realizing that it was a mobile mouse... Lol, I know, should have read the box better. It is a nice little mouse and it feels really good in the hand, best scroll wheel I have used so far. I think it's a little small for daily use on my laptop though so I will be returning it for a larger model. For someone with small hands or young kids this might be the perfect size mouse for them.

@tunasanwitch I have sent paperwork to the satisfaction guarantee department with a ton of info and it will probably be 6-8 weeks or more before I hear of a refund. call Microsoft and tell them u want a refund or rebate to buy different model. It sucks we are out money for now but ya got to jump through hoops to get it back. 1-800-Microsoft (642-7676) this is the number I started with. be calm but firm, no need to negotiate just tell them what you want and be prepared to say it several times

Bought it , returned it.. And no, it does not work on any surface. Battery life goes down really fast.. Scrollwheel doesnt allow for quick scrolling and after a while, it get´s stuck entirely. Used it during summer and even the rubber on the scrollwheel just fall off.. Use it for longer than a view weeks and you´ll see this is not worth 40 bucks (30 euro in my country)

CAREFUL!!! I've had three of these mice and the Nano Transceiver heats up really hot while in the USB port and falls apart and it is hard to get out of your computer. I am trying to get a refund or rebate because I don't want to give another one of these mice a chance to damage my laptop.

@TheSalbot all cows are exposed to antibiotics. but the thing that people don't know is that it is illegal for farmers to sell milk that contains antibiotics. milk gets tested at the farm when it gets picked up. then the whole truckload gets tested when it gets to the plant. if any traces of antibiotics are found, they trace it back to the farmer resposible and the farmer has to pay for the whole truckload because it must be dumped out. farmers don't risk selling milk that contains antibiotics.

@dahlkyle Nothing to do with the flying that makes me doubt the speed, it's the ability of the camera person to keep up with the rapid, abrupt change in direction of the heli. I have shot a bit of video and something about it just doesn't look right. And then you say it's from a phone? That is impressive! No matter whether the vid was sped up or not, that is some pretty incredible piloting....for a stick banger.

That's some impressive flying! As a video professional, I would say that this video isn't sped up. Especially look around 1:30 for the rolling shutter artifacts (bending) on the body of the helicopter as it darts back and forth. The body would not show those artifacts if it wasn't moving fast enough. The blades are always moving fast enough to show it (it looks like they are bending-that's a rolling shutter artifact). If the video was sped up, those artifacts on the body wouldn't be there.
